This project involved redesigning the child subsidy calculator for the OAC website to address low completion rates due to overwhelming the users with the existing full-page form. We proposed a multi-step form approach to streamline the process and boost user engagement. After gathering preferences and feedback, three design concepts were presented to stakeholders, leading to the selection of a preferred concept. The result was a revamped calculator that met the client's expectations and improved user experience and completion rates.
OAC came to the agency I was working at to re-design an existing child subsidy calculator on their website. It was currently a full page form, but through data could see that people were not completing the form due to its length. We proposed to turn this into a multi-step form, to not overwhelm users and encourage form completion.
They provided some examples they liked and gave us a run down of the feel they were wanting to achieve with the re-design. We put together a timeline of delivery and outlined each aspect of delivery. As this was already existing it was crucial to look into the CMS they were using to make sure the designs I put forward would integrate smoothly, as not to waste time.

From here I created 3 different styles to choose from, I presented these designs to the board for their feedback. The chosen concept is what I’d later use to build out a style library.

With the chosen concept in hand, I proceeded to construct a comprehensive style library, ensuring design consistency across all elements to streamline development processes. Collaborating closely with the development team, I ensured that the final product faithfully reflected the presented designs. Detailed annotations accompanied all designs, elucidating any complex interactions, and prototypes were developed where necessary for clarification.
